So Far So Good 2018

music to our ears
Summer is officially here and that means many things, warm weather, road trips, BBQ's, swimming and the need for good music. Each June I highlight records that have made their way into my listening rotation. This is the first of two installments, the latter comes in November.

Music is a vital piece of culture that can define who we are or which mood we are in. I'm consistently listening to music, new and old. Below are albums that have grabbed my attention. Have fun this summer. Stay safe and keep cool. SO FAR SO GOOD...

WHAT IF? WTF! WHY?

OKC Highlights | 2011-12

...because right now, there is no Basketball...

Two years prior they'd lost to the Lakers in the postseason and the next year to Dallas in the conference finals. During this campaign they would reach the NBA Finals by defeating the Mavericks, next the Lakers and then the Spurs. DAMN. Look at how young these dudes were, just out there ball'n, straight fly'n around. Three MVP's drafted by the same team...only in the NBA. Never forget the OG OKC Thunder; KD, Russy & Harden, plus a young Serge & Thabo. DAMN!

Brew Detective: Hen House | Philadelphia Experiment

Hen House just keeps crushing it. I have a reputable friend who has suggested that they are now the top brewery in the county! The Philly Experiment is a bit hazy but tastes lighter than the body of the beer suggests. A nice pillow rests atop the opaque straw-yellow nectar, which glows with a tinge of orange. This tasty libation has legs in the glass, it leaves its mark.

The aromas are murky, almost trying to trick your senses. Tropical tasting notes prevail on the front end. There's a dry quality at the finish, an encouraging component to assist you in drinking more. Philadelphia Experiment is brewed with Simcoe, Enigma and Vic's Secret hops. Chances are this IPA will disappear quickly, just as the USS Eldridge did in the Philadelphia Naval Yard back in 1943. 6.0%

Enjoy responsibly,

In The Year 2000

Not long ago, in galaxy not far away...

Outcast | Stankonia

Outkast, pronounced outcast, adjective meaning homeless or unaccepted in society. But let's look deeper than that. Are you an outcast? If you understand and feel the basic principles and fundamental truths contained within this music, you probably are...

This is hip hop,

Shakedown

Current Mood |

Valerie June | "Shakedown" | The Order of Time

Change remains the only constant while life provides the moving and shaking. Change can also trigger hope, inspiration, positive thought and productivity. And sometimes change can be the stick—I want change to be the carrot.
